Apparently, by calling themselves ‘women’s magazine’, Elle’s purpose is to ’empower’ the weaker sex by preaching that all women have to do is be pretty, stay at home and take care of their husbands and kids. Well, at least that’s what their latest trash-talk for Ivanka Trump has made us think.
As reported by NewsBusters, Elle writer Sady Doyle attacked Ivanka by calling her ‘a blond, pretty, well-mannered princess, who was given massive amounts of power over the citizenry thanks to nothing but her genetic makeup.” Wow! Looks like not only the left have nothing left to write about, but they are also obviously threatened by Ivanka’s success.
Doyle even admitted that she thinks this ‘princess’ is “terrifying” for her exceptionalism.
“Exceptional Women are smart enough, sweet enough, strong enough, soft enough, pure enough, sexy enough to satisfy all of our culture’s contradictory demands on women, and thus make it to the top of a sexist system on merit alone,” she kept talking. According to Doyle, “patriarchy needs that woman because she provides evidence that sexism doesn’t exist.”
So, what she’s trying to say is because of her success and accomplishments, Ivanka is perceived as a threat, or a problem by the supposedly less exceptional women who are being held down by the sexist system.
Doyle continued her nonsense, and even contradicted herself: “Exceptional Women don’t exist in real life. No one is unaffected by sexism; no woman, no matter how well-behaved, is ever safe. But some women, by dint of privilege and good luck, are fairly convincing avatars.”
To claim that no one can climb the ladder based on talent or merit is clearly an insult, but not only to Ivanka Trump, but to all hard-working, strong, independent women who have done exactly that and achieved major success is more sexist than anything any man has ever said.
This article even went over the line by attacking Ivanka for all her endeavors, accusing her for never actually helping women. Doyle stated that now her role in the White House will be “to integrate a very specific vision of exceptionalist white womanhood into the Trump brand and presidency. By presenting a very specific type of exceptional success, she is the Trump presidency’s built-in excuse for failing the rest of us.”
The ignorant prick just kept on and on with her outrageous claims, like that “Trumpism is unsurvivable for women who do not happen to be exceptional Ivankas.”
She even shared her doomsday vision of America’s future:
“Ivanka is the Disney princess; we’re the peasant chorus members who watch, and serve, and sigh at her pretty hair. Hell, maybe we’ll even pitch in some background vocals on a few of the big musical numbers. Peasants always do, in those movies, even though they’re probably all starving.”
So, what this ‘strong successful woman’ is trying to say to the readers of Elle – the ‘women empowering magazine’ is not to become too successful, or else they will be accused of being ‘dangerously exceptional’.
