After Obama and the Security Council turned their backs on Israel by making a traitorous condemning vote, Ted Cruz was among the first politicians to react. He stood up, opposing the antisemitic move and the treason against Israel – one of our closest allies. Now, he has introduced legislation in conjunction with Lindsey Graham to cut off all funding of the UN unless they reverse the resolution, which will probably never happen.
Cruz and Graham put their antipathy aside, buried the hatchet and joined together for a greater cause – getting the United States out of the United Nations for good. If the resolution doesn’t get reversed, the US, who is their biggest donor, will cut off all funding. Hopefully, under President-elect Donald Trump, the U.S. will finally get away from all dictators and Jihadists.
Cruz said President Obama “betrayed decades of robust bipartisan American support for Israel” by having his administration abstain from voting on the resolution rather than vetoing it, as it did in the past.
“Congress must hold the U.N. accountable and use our leverage as its largest contributor to push for the repeal of this resolution, making it clear to the world that Congress stands unequivocally against efforts to undermine Israel,” he added.
Graham, who oversees funding for the State Department and foreign operations, called the vote “a slap” against the Middle East ally.
Despite Republicans as well as Democratic lawmakers urged them to use the U.S.’s veto authority to stop the passing of the resolution, Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry ignored them all.
The House passed a resolution on a 342-80 vote last week denouncing the Security Council vote. A majority of Democrats, 109, voted for the resolution, while 76 voted against it, which shows that both parties strongly disapprove of Obama’s actions against Israel, reports Right Wing News.
The Senate has introduced its own resolution, which is backed by 68 senators, but there is still a slight chance that Obama in his last days will try to push his harmful plans. Word has it that Kerry, at a meeting with the UN will try to further the stance against Israel. Unfortunately for them, Trump will not allow that and will cut the UN funding and kick them off for good.
