To be honest, during the past eight years when Michelle Obama was the First Lady of the United States, she was anything but ‘conventional’, as far as fashion is concerned. According to some, Michelle’s fashion choices were amazing, while others have found them repelling and distasteful. However, it can at least be said that she was controversial. Now, she has been replaced with the new First Lady, Melania Trump, who bears the burden of whether she will live up to the fashion the First Lady is worthy of. It didn’t take a lot of time to find out whether Melania will be a fashion sensation like Jacqueline Kennedy or just another failure like Michelle. Melania’s appearance on Thursday night settled it and ended the suspense.
The Trump family appeared on their first cabinet dinner, the Candlelight Dinner at Union Station. Melania wore a gold-beaded Reem Acra gown that featured a high neckline, long sleeves, and a fitted bodice, reports World Politicus.
Here’s what one Trump spokesperson said of the First Lady’s incredible appearance.
“The First Lady-elect is wearing the renowned international designer, Reem Acra, to celebrate the 58th presidential inauguration at a candlelight dinner with her husband, President-elect Donald Trump, and their supporters. Mrs. Trump appreciates the well-wishes she has received from around the world and looks forward to participating in the events of the next few days along with the American people.”
Acra is a native of Beirut, Lebanon, and has resided in Hong Kong and Paris before finally settling in New York City. If Melania’s fashion in the last several days is any indication, she will become the First Lady who will be an inspiration of the American people both through her fashion choices and in the manner she behaves, despite the fact that many fashion designers, even Michelle’s personal ones, refused to co-operate with her. Obviously, Melania does not need Michelle or her underrated designers to impress people with her amazing looks.
