Since Trump signed the executive orders on travel ban for several Muslim countries, the leftist protesters haven’t left the airports. The interesting thing is, they’re not entirely sure why they’re protesting them, it seems they’re just trying to mess stuff up, which is what they do best.
However, this video will probably leave every protester speechless, and maybe a little lightheaded. It’s a 22-year-old clip from former President Bill Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union speech, in which he makes a pretty intriguing argument for border enforcement and cracking down on illegal immigrants.
“All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country,” Clinton said.
“The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public services they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That’s why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens.”
“In the budget I will present to you, we will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes, to better identify illegal aliens in the workplace as recommended by the commission headed by former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan.”
“We are a nation of immigrants,” Clinton continued. “But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.”
Now, aside from the shock of seeing a Clinton advocating a stronger version of what Donald Trump himself is proposing, there’s another name that draws attention – former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, who made the recommendations this speech – one of the best speeches on this topic – was based on.
Jordan, who died in 1996, was one of the most reliably liberal members of the Democrat caucus during her time in the House of Representatives. Despite being a liberal Democrat, she realized the importance of securing our borders and making sure that illegal immigrants will not take American jobs, reports Conservative Tribune.
Unfortunately, now, almost anything is more important to the Democrat Party than the interests of American workers. America sees it, and that is why Donald Trump was chosen to be our President.
