Since President Donald Trump took over office in January, over 500 employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs have been fired
As Washington Examiner reports, the VA released data according to which on Friday, 526 employees have been terminated while another 27 were demoted and 194 employees were suspended for at least two weeks.
The statement was released on Friday by Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin on the department’s transparency and accountability.
“Veterans and taxpayers have a right to know what we’re doing to hold our employees accountable and make our personnel actions transparent.”
“Posting this information online for all to see, and updating it weekly, will do just that.”
Even though there weren’t any names published on the list that was made publicly available, the positions are listed.
As soon as it has been revealed that VA employees were lying about patients and wait times for veterans to see doctors or receive testing, the department got serious backlash and criticism. Members of Congress from both parties demanded that everyone who was part of past scandals to be held accountable.
