Trump just announced his budget proposal and it looks like he will work towards fulfilling a promise he made to us to reduce government spending.
The ultimate goal the president wants to achieve is lower the national debt and reduce the tax burden on American citizens. Of course, democrats immediately started saying that this is something impossible. Even republicans are critical of the proposal.
But, the president strongly believes that this proposal will lead to fulfilling the goals with the help of two major groups and their impact.
According to reports, Trump’s budget includes a massive nearly $200 billion cut to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the modern version of food stamps, over the next 10 years. Additionally, the plan is to cut $800 billion to Medicaid. The budget calls for $2.6 billion in border security spending, $1.6 billion of which will be earmarked for Trump’s proposed wall along the U.S.’s southern border.
However, this budget proposal is set on making this better for Americans after eight years of spending out of control. The proposal will be used to fix the holes in our current system.
Some criticize the fact food stamps and medical welfare have been cut for a lot of people, but this has just made people to go work and earn the things they get from our country.
For a fun bonus thought on these cuts, here are some great thoughts from the “Doctor of Common Sense”:
