While other prominent Republicans have been skeptical of Mueller’s neutrality during the investigation, criticizing his new legal team which is stacked with Democratic donors or affiliates, one Republican Senator had something else to say.
Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) decided to share her opinion about special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Collins shocked everyone when she defended Mueller and accused President Trump of acting inappropriately, reports The Sports Hall.
“I understand how difficult and frustrating this investigation is for the president. But he should not say anything further about the special counsel, his staff or the investigation.”
She continued, complimenting Mueller:
“I know it’s hard, but he needs to step back and not comment, and let Bob Mueller who is an individual with the utmost integrity, carry out the investigation and make his determination.”
The Senator also said Attorney General Jeff Session’s made the right choice when he recused himself from the Russia investigation, paving the way for Mueller to take over:
“The attorney general followed the rules and guidelines of the Department of Justice. He met with career staff, and he made the right decision in recusing himself.”

President Trump was frustrated at the lack of support among Republican legislators, tweeting:
It’s very sad that Republicans, even some that were carried over the line on my back, do very little to protect their President.

President Trump is already dealing with a lot of problems caused by Democrats and the media, he does not need his own people criticizing him too! Senator Collins and the other like her need to understand that now is the time for Republicans to stand united, and not stab each others in the back.
