This May, a federal prosecutor’s body was discovered on a Hollywood, Florida beach with a gun shot to the head.
The prosecutor was identified as Beranton J. Whisenant, Jr. His lifeless body was found in May by a random individual. Immediately after, police officers were all over the crime scene, trying to determine if Whisenant’s death was a “homicide, suicide, or something else.”
Whisenant was an employee at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami in its major crimes unit. He was involved in investigations regarding several visa and passport fraud cases in Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s district.
Official said that Whisenant committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. But, there wasn’t any weapon found at the crime scene.
According to latest reports, police officers searched for two blocks north and south of the crime scene but couldn’t find the gun or any other weapon.
Before his death, Whisenant was assigned to the Miami office of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and been hired as federal prosecutor a few months earlier.
