Mike Huckabee: If They Tear Down Memorials They Find Offensive, Can We Tear Down…

Liberals, in yet another one of their meltdowns over nonsense, decided that Confederate statues ‘offend’ them and they have to come down. And not only that – these tender snowflakes accused everyone who disagreed with them of being a Nazi loving racist.

Real Americans are getting sick of it, and Mike Huckabee is one of them. He has come up with an interesting suggestion for liberals now that we are removing everything that offends us from the public square.

The former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate appeared Wednesday on Fox News, reports Young Conservatives. He discussed the vandalism and other violence resulting from a white supremacist protest and counter-protest in Charlottesville, Virginia last weekend and its aftermath – the tearing down of memorials across the country in recent days.

“Anarchists go and just tear down the statues [of Confederates and historical figures who were slave owners] because they are impatient with politicians doing it,” Huckabee said. “… that is not acceptable behavior, it is vandalism, it is anarchy, and it would be like me saying ‘I don’t like abortion clinics, so I’m going to go to tear them down because I find them offensive.’”

Huckabee said that the precedent of mobs tearing down things that offend us is troubling.

“We are bordering on anarchy,” he said, “having a select group of people tear something down because it offends them personally.”
“Al Sharpton is calling for the destruction of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington. You have a pastor in Chicago asking that Washington Park have that statue there removed because George Washington owned slaves.”

The he asked:

“Where does it stop?”

Indeed. If we are tearing down things that offend us, where does it end?

FDR interned American citizens simply because of their race. Should he go?

LBJ and Woodrow Wilson were major racists. Should they go as well?

Are we simply going to purge everyone from the public square until there is not a single piece of history left to remind us of what we went through and what we’ve overcome?
