Many liberal celebrities have been using their fame to publicly trash President Trump. However, Oscar award-winning actor, Jeff Bridges, isn’t one of them. He said he has no intention of joining his fellow celebrities in their attacks towards the President.
The 67-year-old star, who is best known for his roles in “The Big Lebowski,” “True Grit,” and “Crazy Heart,” said:
“Everybody has something different and unique to contribute to society and with different ways of doing it. Some people will be blatantly out there talking about their disappointments and ridiculing the way President Trump is acting. I’m rooting for him to do well by our country. I’m rooting for him as a human being to do the cool thing.”
“The health of our children is a wonderful compass that can tell us if our country is going the right direction. That means we’re off course, so I’m rooting for the president to get on course.”
Bridges isn’t the first celebrity to openly announce that he will not go after the commander in chief like some Hollywood liberals, reports Independent Journal Review. Shortly after Trump won the election, Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey said of his fellow actors going after Trump:
“Well, they don’t have a choice now. He’s our president. And, it’s very dynamic and as divisive of an Inauguration and time as we’ve had. At the same time, it’s time for us to embrace and shake hands with this fact. And be constructive with him over the next four years.
So anyone, even those who may strongly disagree with his principles or things he’s said and done — and that’s another thing, we’ll see what he does compares to what he has said — no matter how much you even disagreed along the way, it’s time to think about how constructive can you be.”
Jeff Bridges’ statement sure comes as a surprise, given that he voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race.
