For the past few months, headlines have been filled with reports about the Pakistani Muslim IT staffers who worked for Democratic members of Congress. The first thing that comes to mind when you read this is how come they didn’t hire an American to do their IT work?
It’s very suspicious that someone who comes from a nation that harbors terrorists is hired to work with confidential and classified materials. After some investigation, it was uncovered that the staffers were paid much more than others who worked with them.
Recently, the FBI arrested the ring-leader of this group, Imran Awan, as he was attempting to flee the U.S. The fact that he tried to flee the country just raises more concerns – what was he trying to run away from?
Former DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz was the last one to keep Mr. Awan on her staff. He worked for her until the day he was arrested by the FBI. Awhile later, it was reported that Mr. Awan possessed at his home smashed hard-drives that were connected to Mrs. Wasserman Schultz. We get that he tried to destroy the data, but why did he have the hard-drives at his home is what we don’t understand.
Last week, reports revealed that Awan’s wife made a deal with authorities to return to the U.S. and face charges against her. Soon after, Rep. Trent Franks said that this could put Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz in a bad position. Franks said:
“I don’t want to talk out of school here, but I think you’re going to see some revelations that are going to be pretty profound. The fact that this wife is coming back from Pakistan and is willing to face charges, as it were, I think there is a good chance she is going to reach some type of immunity to tell a larger story here that is going to be pretty disturbing to the American people. I would just predict that this is going to be a very significant story and people should fasten their seat belts on this one.”
