The United States federal program of social insurance and benefits was developed back in 1935 by President Franklin Roosevelt. The Social Security program’s benefits include retirement income, disability income, Medicare and Medicaid, and death and survivorship benefits.
Instead of being thankful that such a program exists, many Americans have abused and misused the program for years. Recently, many have been talking about how immigrants have access to these perks without working, while American tax-payers who work hard often have trouble receiving the benefits.
During the time Barack Obama was president, he did nothing to make the Social Security program any better. Now, it’s up to President Trump to reform the program and make it better for Americans. He is up for the challenge of his life.
A report made by Right Wing News reveals that an audit discovered the Social Security Administration paid out over $1 billion in benefits to people that don’t have social security numbers. It was obvious that the government’s documentation of “representative payees” was massively flawed.
Over the course of the last 10 years, the SSA made a total payment of $1 billion to 22,426 representative payees who did not have a social security number. The inspector general stated:
“[U]nless it takes corrective action, we estimate SSA will pay about $182.5 million in benefits, annually, to representative payees who do not have an SSN or paper application supporting their selection.”
According to the inspector general’s statement, he found that the SSA paid $853.1 million since 2004 to representative payees that had been terminated by the agency. If their system was updated on time, a mistake like this one would have been avoided, reports Patriot Journal.
This could have been stopped years ago, but former President Obama was unwilling to make necessary cuts in our budget or to even evaluate where our money is going. Now that President Trump has taken over, this nonsense will be brought to an end!
